Waze Planned Drives tell you how to get there and when to leave

If you travel frequently for business or pleasure and are the sort of person who doesn't like to be late, there can be some anxiety that goes along with driving somewhere for the first time. You don't want to get their so early that you have to sit around, but you don't want to be late either. Any GPS app can get you where you want to go, but the new Waze Planned Drives that just landed for iOS will tell you when to leave.

The Planned Drives for iOS lands in version 4.3 of the Waze app. To use the new feature you enter a time and a date when you need to arrive wherever you are going. Waze will tell you the best time to leave and it will give you a reminder closer to your event with an updated departure time that takes the road conditions right now into account.

Once the user enters the destination and arrival time, Waze does the rest. The new feature aims to help people manage their schedules and avoid being stuck in traffic. Using the new feature requires you to enter a destination and then click the Waze Planned Drives icon in the bottom left corner of the screen. Traffic expectations are based on smart algorithms, aggregated traffic history, and predictive analysis.

Users can grant Waze access to the Calendar and Facebook appointments so Facebook Events automatically are set as Planned Drives. With real-time traffic data thrown in the mix, your leave time and ETA will be updated closer to when you need to leave. Users can add stops to the planned drive route to have that figured into the departure time as well. Waze says that Planned Drives will land on the Android app soon.
