WatchESPN arrives for Windows Phone users

Those of us who use Windows Phone know how it goes — there's some nice service you'd like to use, only you know the odds of it being available for your device aren't all that hot. Such was the case with WatchESPN, at least until recently, with the service arriving in the Windows Phone store for all the Lumia users out there. It is available to download now, requiring the same related TV subscription package it does on other platforms, as well.

The WatchESPN app is free to download, and will offer users live content from across several ESPN stations — ESPN2/3/U, ESPNews, and more — depending on which service provider the users is subscribed to. Only certain service providers offer WatchESPN's live content, as well, including:

AT&T U-verse, DISH Network, Charter, Comcast, TMW, Verizon FiOS, Optimum, Google Fiber, Cox, Midcontinent Communications, and Bright House Networks. Those who don't subscribe to one of the service providers will be able to access the on-demand content and news, however.

As far as the app itself goes, you'll need to be running Windows 8.1 in order to use it, with the app clocking in at a svelte 6MB and currently sitting at version 1.0.0.1458. Video streaming is offered at up to 720p.
