Watch this: The new Interstellar trailer is amazing

The concept of having or even wanting to leave Earth for good has long haunted humanity. Are we really destroying our planet, forcing decay acre by acre, or will the terra rebound and take its revenge? Interstellar is Christopher Nolan's attempt to answer the former without the latter, and the latest trailer for his film looks spectacular.

The scope of Nolan's latest faces extinction head-on, with images that are eerily reminiscent of the 'dust bowl' that suffocated the midwest farmlands so many years ago. Our hero, Matthew McConaughey, is tasked with leading an expedition to another planet — a new home for humans.

In this trailer, we see that he's found that planet, or at least some planet to land on. It's not quite the doppelgänger for Earth, with massive waves and volcanic eruptions spewing forth, but it's where they landed, so they're going to deal with it.

The effects look amazing, and Nolan seems to have tipped his hat to a seminal space film, at least to my mind. There is a rectangular walking bot that follows them, and looks a lot like the monolith from 2001: A Space Odyssey reborn for a modern audience.

Give the teaser a watch down below and tell us what you think of it. The movie comes out on November 7 to a wide audience, but Paramount will be releasing it to IMAX two days ahead of that. We'll have to clear our schedules for November 5, it seems.
