Walking Dead spinoff image surfaces, second season confirmed

The Walking Dead's little-known spin-off has been under way for a while, but not much has been known about it since its unveiling in 2013. We still don't know what the series is going to be called, nor when we can expect it to debut, but a screenshot from the show has surfaced today confirming two of the actors that will be starring in it. In addition, though it hasn't yet aired, AMC has apparently anticipated solid success and has already renewed its series for a second season.

This past December, news surfaced that Kim Dickens has scored a starring role (as a guidance counselor) in the film, and she can be seen in the screenshot above said to come from the series. Also starring will be Cliff Curtis, who will be playing the role of a teacher. Both characters will have a son in the show (though not together), with Dickens' character also having a daughter.

The series will take place in The Walking Dead's world, but will be set in Los Angeles rather than the south eastern states, essentially providing different life dynamics in a different location in the same apocalyptic situation. According to THR, the show first underwent its pilot process under the title "Cobalt" and "Fear of the Walking Dead".

This will satisfy fans in two ways: it will provide a look at the situation from an entirely different perspective, and will also serve to fill those two quarters during which the original series is on hiatus, giving viewers a zombie fix all year around.
