Wacom Bamboo Ink stylus for Windows 10 tablets now up for grabs

There is no shortage of Windows 10 tablets and 2-in-1s that support one kind of stylus or another. There is just one problem: they each have their own, using sometimes incompatible technologies. Wacom, ever the champion of styluses, has a solution. Announced last may, the Wacom Bamboo Ink pen offers a pressure-sensitive stylus to a wide plethora of Windows 10 devices from different manufacturers. The only requirement? That they support the Windows Ink.

Windows Ink is the marketing name Microsoft has given to the pen support it added to the Windows 10 Anniversary Update. In a nutshell, it gives a more or less common ground for both OEMs and accessory makers to add support for pen-related features without having to the same hardware, like Wacom or N-Trig. It also provides a few common functions like the Ink Workspace and buttons

Despite having its AES technology in a number of Windows 10 devices already, Wacom decided to leverage Windows Ink to also get its product on devices that use competing technologies, like Microsoft’s N-Trig. That means that if you ever decide to switch computers or, heaven forbid, lose your stylus, you can keep on inking without missing a beat.

The Wacom Bamboo Ink comes with your standard active stylus features, like a pressure-sensitive tip, two customizable buttons at the side, and a Bluetooth button at the top. The latter can be used to open the Ink Workspace, start a Screen Sketch, or open Sticky Notes, with a press, long press, or press and hold action, respectively.

As mentioned, the Wacom Bamboo Ink only works with computers that support Windows Ink, and not all of them do. The full list of compatible devices is below. The Wacom Bamboo Ink pen is available from Microsoft Stores and Best Buy for $69.99.
