Verizon rolls out new unlimited wireless voice plans

It seems Verizon is trying to temper a bit of bad news with some good news today with the announcement that it is offering new unlimited plans for voice and texting. The good news is that the Nationwide Unlimited Talk plan allows you to call anyone in the US for $69.99 per month.

Customers can get unlimited text and voice for $89.99 per month. Customers on a family charge plan can get Unlimited Family Talk for $119.99 and Unlimited Talk and Text family plan for $149.99. The bad news is that Verizon has followed AT&T and now requires all smartphones to be sold with a data plan.

Users must get the $9.99 monthly 25MB data plan for any smartphone sold on the network. Previously the data plan was only required for the LG enV Touch and Samsung Rogue devices. The $19.99 data plan for 3G phones has been discontinued. I guess if you already had the plan you will not pay $9.99 monthly. The $29.99 data package for Android, Windows Mobile, and Blackberry devices will remain.
