Verizon announces dirt-cheap ZTE Salute slider

Verizon Wireless has announced the addition of the first handset from cheap phone maker ZTE onto its wireless network. The new handset is called the Salute and is a slim slider that has a bargain price tag that will appeal to those wanting a basic handset and parents looking to get a kid their first device.

The handset has a slider design and sports a large 2.4-inch screen, it has a 1.3MP digital camera and can surf the mobile internet. Messaging options for the handset include text, picture, and voice. The device can also access email and chat services.

The Salute has Bluetooth and a media center with downloadable games and more. The cheap device is also VZ Navigator compatible and has Bing search. The Salute is available right now for $19.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate and new contract.
