V-MODA Crossfade 2 wireless headphones offer hi-res audio in wired mode

V-MODA has introduced its new Crossfade 2 headphones, a pair of over-the-ear headphones that feature both a wireless and a wired mode. When in wired mode, the Crossfade 2 are said to meet the Japan Audio Society certification for the Hi-Res Audio standard, making them suitable for use with lossless media players and streaming services. The wireless mode, meanwhile, gives users 33ft of freedom and the ability to connect to just about any consumer audio device sans wires.

The wired mode offers a frequency range of 5Hz to 40kHz and supports playback sources with up to 24-bit/96kHz audio. Those who opt for the Rose Gold model will get access to the Qualcomm aptX audio codec, as well, which is said to offer CD-quality audio when connected to a source over Bluetooth. These headphones also feature memory foam for keeping out ambient sounds without active noise cancellation.

The Crossfade 2 also features what V-MODA calls CliqFold, a mechanism for folding the headphones into a compact size able to fit in a 'deceptively small travel case,' according to the company. The case includes new vents, which V-MODA calls V-PORTs, for air circulation. The case can also accommodate the audio cable and storage cable, as well as some small extras like earbuds or a USB drive.

Finally, the headphones have a built-in microphone that facilitates voice recognition and phone calls. Plugging in the SpeakEasy Kevlar-covered cable also adds calls and music control. This is complemented with MIL-STD-810G durability and vegan leather. As well as the Rose Gold option, the Crossfade 2 are also offered in Matte Block and Matte White. Price sits at $330 USD for the black and white models, and $350 USD for the Rose Gold model.
