Unofficial Android 2.2 Update For ViewPad 10 Lands
If you are keen on an Android tablet rather than the iPad, you may have been following the ViewSonic ViewPad 10 with interest. The tablet landed a while back and in October, we spent a bit of hands on time with the thing and liked it well enough even if Android 1.6 was not what we really wanted to see on the tablet.
If you felt the same way, an unofficial update for the ViewPad 10 has been added to the main Android repository that brings the tablet Android 2.2. The update can be downloaded now, but is a work in progress and needs to be considered a beta offering.
That would mean if things go wrong, don't go calling ViewSonic for assistance. It's also worth noting that the porting of Android 2.2 to run on x86 Atom platforms is a good thing for anyone wanting to dual boot Android with Windows on an x86 platform. Let us know what you think if you download the update.
