Twitter was down, takes blame for downtime

Overnight Twitter was down, resulting in some less-than-thrilled Twitter addicts. As such, a cause was sought! Twitter has, as of this morning at 10AM Pacific Time, figured out what the cause was and has fixed their system to compensate. It would appear that no external factors were at play, only internal. So no worries, only Twitter accidentally breaking on the inside on its own.

According to Twitter's Service Issue listing, "the intermittent issue affecting some users between 00:40 and 06:50 PST has now been resolved." Twitter support continued, "the issue was related to an internal code change. We reverted the change, which fixed the issue."

"We thank you for your patience."

This came after Twitter confirmed that four of their five public APIs were down, creating this tiny "service disruption." Sporadic access was available to all users throughout the incident, even if they themselves didn't tap in to the service at the right moment.

This was a fail whale. It is now fixed. No worries for you.
