Twitch Producer tools, Disney partnership hit YouTube while it's down

The video streaming market has become a dog eat dog world, where rivals try to outdo each other with sometimes questionable tactics. Giant YouTube has recently come under fire, yet again, and some of its competitors seem to be circling around it like vultures around a carcass. That might be the feeling that some will get with Twitch.tv's pair of announcements that are a not so subtle challenge to YouTube, conveniently timed while the latter's too busy putting out fires.

First up are the Video Producer tools, which basically gives user the means to create, edit, and upload pre-recorded, a.k.a. "produced", videos. Twitch has primarily been a live streaming platform, in contrast to YouTube being primarily a produced video streaming service. With Video Producer, Twitch is attempting to nibble away at YouTube's piece of the pie.

With the tools come two new types of video content. One is Premiere, which lets streamers schedule a live stream around a pre-recorded video. Just like opening night. Reruns, on the other hand, give streamers the option to rebroadcast previous streams.

Perhaps the part that would worry YouTube the most is Twitch's multi-year partnership with Disney, which will bring "exclusive" content from some famous Internet personalities. Practically Disney-managed personalities like Jacksepticeye, Markiplier, Strawburry17, and Luzu. Some of these, of course, are also YouTube personalities. There's probably going to be some messy conflicts of interest in the days to come.

While no stranger to controversy, the latest YouTube fiasco involving Internet celeb Logan Paul has rocked the platform once more, this time causing creators, not advertisers, to abandon ship. Even YouTube's latest attempt to make amends is being seen as to actually be more harmful to smaller content makers, who are probably considering Twitch as an alternative now.
