TiVo Mega DVR boasts capacity to store 3 years of TV content

Your favorite TV shows — they often rend your heart and leave you hanging, only to breeze past that one big plot twist and leave you scratching your head after a single missed episode. To help ensure you avoid this unfortunate situation is the new TiVo Mega, a DVR touting the ability to hold 3 years' worth of television content.

The TiVo Mega is a 24TB DVR featuring 6 tuners and support for multi-room networking, offering RAID configuration and rack-mountable design. The DVR features integrated mobile streaming, as well as the ability to be controlled using the TiVo app.

With the 24TB, users can store more than 26,000 hour of television shows in standard definition, or 4,000 hours in high-definition. A personalized dashboard is used to dish up content the user might be interested in, as well as "Collections" that aggregate content based on things like holidays or current events.

The TiVo Mega is being shown off at CEDIA this week, and will be available in the first quarter of next year. The cost of a DVR cable to record multiple years of television content? About $5,000 USD, which TiVo says will include lifetime service.
