The Last Jedi trailer date was just outed by Luke Skywalker

Now that the end of September is upon us, we're a mere three months out from the premiere of Star Wars Episode 8: The Last Jedi. Make no mistake, Disney is priming its massive marketing machine as we speak, and many Star Wars fans are wondering when we're going to get an actual trailer for The Last Jedi. The first and only trailer we've received thus far was a teaser trailer released at Star Wars Celebration in April.

Though that teaser accomplished its goal of getting everyone sufficiently excited for The Last Jedi, fans have been craving something more substantial for months. Luckily, we may not have to wait much longer before the first full trailer for The Last Jedi airs. According to none other than Mark Hamill himself, that trailer may just be a few weeks away.

Earlier today, Hamill told an eager Star Wars fan inquiring about the new trailer to tune into a certain Monday Night Football game next month. "Watch Monday Night Football on Monday October 9th – for no particular reason," the tweet read. In the time since that tweet was first posted this morning, Hamill has deleted it, suggesting that he shared privileged information we weren't supposed to know just yet.

Thankfully, the folks over at Star Wars Newsnet were able to capture an image of the tweet in question before it was deleted, so now it's been recorded for the whole world to see. Assuming Hamill is right, Disney will likely start teasing it soon – after all, Disney also owns ESPN, which will be airing Monday Night Football. Giving a reason to watch Monday Night Football to as many people as possible is certainly in Disney's best interest.

Hopefully Mr. Skywalker is correct here, because it's been more than five months since that first teaser for The Last Jedi was released. Fans are certainly anxious to see a longer trailer for The Last Jedi, and once Disney opens those floodgates, expect hype to build to even higher levels. We'll see if Disney makes an announcement soon, so stay tuned.
