That "rascal" Channing Tatum is your new Gambit, X-Men fans

There was much speculation that Channing Tatum, the quasi-talented actor best known for disrobing in Magic Mike, would play Gambit in an upcoming X-Men movie. That's been confirmed by the producer, who spilled the beans in an off-the-cuff interview this week.

At a movie premier for X-Men: Days of Future Past, producer Lauren Shuler Donner said Tatum would be our next Gambit. Saying "he's a rogue, Channing, he's a rascal, just like Remy LeBeau", Shuler Donner also said "he's got a really good heart. I know him personally, I did a movie with him. So, I think he will be great."

Tatum succeeds Taylor Kitsch, who played the southern LeBeau in X-Men: Wolverine. Speaking to Total Film about the role in a prior interview, Tatum said "I'm from around that area, and my dad's from New Orleans. And I like to do a Cajun accent!"

Well, I'm from Southern California, but I'm not fit to play Tony Alva in a "Dogtown and Z-Boys" remake. The accent is crucial, and forgive us for doubting Tatum, but we're not confident about this choice. Good thing there's a lot of action, because Mon Dieu, Tatum has an uphill battle to win over X-Men fans.
