Samsung to use its own processors in Galaxy S6

Samsung to use its own processors in Galaxy S6

Sources are claiming that Samsung will use its own branded processors under the hood of its next generation of the Galaxy S smartphone. According to these unnamed sources, Samsung tested out the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor and then decided not to use that part in the next generation smartphone.

Samsung’s new smartwatch may support wireless charging

Samsung’s new smartwatch may support wireless charging

According to their website, Samsung has three smartwatches. That list does not include their original Gear, so news of Samsung possibly introducing a new smartwatch at MWC in early March would mean it’s their fifth major smartwatch release. That seems like a lot of wearables for one company, but we’re talking Samsung, so it’s not that surprising. Their new smartwatch is starting to hit the rumor mill, and the latest news suggests it’s going to be round. Also, it might even charge wirelessly.

HTC “M9” smartphone, smartwatch coming in March

HTC “M9” smartphone, smartwatch coming in March

Although HTC did have a bit of a presence at CES 2015 a few weeks ago, it will be at MWC 2015 in March when it plans to make a big splash. Of course, it will have a smartphone, the expected successor to the HTC One M8, unsurprisingly codenamed the M9 for now. But it will also finally have a smartwatch coming, after months of speculation and waiting for the Taiwanese OEM to finally make its move in the wearables market.

Galaxy S6 fingerprint scanner may be more like Touch ID

Galaxy S6 fingerprint scanner may be more like Touch ID

Samsung’s Galaxy S6 flagship will have a new fingerprint scanner, according to sources. Rather than sliding your finger across the button, you’ll reportedly have the ability to rest a finger on top, ala Touch ID. The new functionality will make one-handed use much simpler; a big knock on Samsung’s fingerprint scanning tech when they introduced it on the Galaxy S5 in 2014. Since then, Samsung has implemented the hardware on several top-end handsets like the Note 4 and Edge as well as the Galaxy S5 mini.

HTC One 2015 Hima detail round-up: before the fact

HTC One 2015 Hima detail round-up: before the fact

It's that time again - time to get onboard with the next generation in HTC's hero phone lineup. This time around, the device is going by code-name HTC Hima. While no mention of the name "HTC One" has been made in the rumor mill thus far, we wouldn't be surprised if HTC stuck with what's worked for them over the past several years, moving out with an HTC One (place some new name here) sort of nomenclature. After that, it's all about the generational change-over to the newest processor, the best display, and some high-powered camera abilities.

HTC’s new flagship phone is coming March 1st

HTC’s new flagship phone is coming March 1st

HTC is bringing its new flagship smartphone to Mobile World Congress 2015, with the company firing out invites for a "Utopia in Progress" event set to take place on March 1st. The event, which takes place the day before the cellularly-centric Barcelona show opens, will be HTC's first major one of the year, having kept a relatively low-profile at CES earlier in January. Hints from the invite are scant, but given it's been roughly a year since HTC showed us the One M8, a replacement for that phone seems more than likely.

Galaxy S6 screen “confirmed” by Samsung website’s own UAProf

Galaxy S6 screen “confirmed” by Samsung website’s own UAProf

We're getting closer to MWC 2015, as close as one can get with more than a month to go, so naturally rumors and leaks of Samsung's next flagship are pouring in and pooling up. It also isn't surprising to see many attribute the best of the best specs to the Galaxy S6, which is rather common fare for every high-profile upcoming Samsung smartphone. Once in a while though, we do get semi-official confirmation of some features coming from Samsung itself, like this confirmation of the smartphone's high-resolution display.

Galaxy S6 specifications may include “less TouchWiz”

Galaxy S6 specifications may include “less TouchWiz”

Word on the street this week is that Samsung's next hero phone may kick TouchWiz to the curb. However unlikely that may seem, it would go with the trend. Imagine Motorola - owned by Google for a while rather recently - with a Moto X with a far more skinned UI. Imagine the HTC One M8 with Sense 2.0. Samsung may be taking a cue and making with the quicker updates to Android - straight from Google, like Nexus devices are prone to do - in the process.

Samsung Galaxy S6 details to mirror Galaxy S5 and Note 4 Edge

Samsung Galaxy S6 details to mirror Galaxy S5 and Note 4 Edge

Imagine a world where Samsung takes the successes of its past releases and makes a phone with a combination of winning elements. That's the world we've been living in for the past several years. The Samsung Galaxy S5 showed us for the 4th year in a row that Samsung does exactly that - takes what works and makes it into a hero phone. This week we're exploring what this strategy will mean for the Samsung Galaxy S6 as it's revealed in March at Mobile World Congress 2015.

What the Samsung Galaxy A7 can tell us about the Galaxy S6

What the Samsung Galaxy A7 can tell us about the Galaxy S6

We're just weeks away from what almost certainly will be Samsung's next big unveiling of a super-phone. Last year the company decided to reveal their Samsung Galaxy S5 in a multi-country fashion during Mobile World Congress 2014. We've no good reason NOT to believe they wouldn't do the same thing again this year at MWC 2015. To prepare, we've been gathering rumors, leaks, and clues from Samsung to put together a puzzle that is the next hero phone from the biggest brand in Android.

Rumor: Galaxy S6 will be metal with a curved screen

Rumor: Galaxy S6 will be metal with a curved screen

The last time we saw anything about the Galaxy S6, it was a nearly bezel-less device that seemed far too good to be true. And hey, it was; people quickly discovered the device was a photoshopped pic of a different Samsung device, so we’re back to square one on the rumor/candyland board. A new rumor, though very much an eyebrow-raising one, suggests Samsung is gong aluminum with the Galaxy S6. Also, they’re getting into the curved screen game, if the talk is at all accurate.

HTC Hima in detail: before the fact

HTC Hima in detail: before the fact

The HTC One M8 was a direct descendant of the HTC One M7. Before that, there was the HTC One S and the HTC One X. Before that, there was a whole mess of phones released by the manufacturer with a lot less cohesive a plan than HTC is working with today. Today we've got codename "HTC Hima" to look forward to. What follows are specifications for the 2015 HTC flagship, along with sensible reasons for each specification affirmation. This is what we'll more than likely see on March 1st, 2015.
