Car subscriptions are here, but there’s no one-size-fits-all

Once upon a time in America, you went to your local auto dealership, gave them a wad of cash, and drove a car off the lot. Then came leasing, and drivers became temporary stewards of their cars in return for three year flexibility. Now, in the midst of an auto industry terrified of Millennial disinterest and general apathy, the hunt is on for the Next Big Thing in car buying. That's the challenge facing the Italian automaker as it continues to carve out a space in the luxury performance high-end, and the question I posed to Reid Bigland, Head of Maserati and Alfa Romeo, this week at the LA Auto Show 2017. As you might expect, the answer is complicated.

2019 BMW i8 Roadster First Look: Topless Hybrid

Given the choice between a coupe and a convertible, I’m always inclined to go with the latter, and now those who think similarly but who want a BMW i8 have an option. Just announced at the LA Auto Show 2017, the 2019 BMW i8 Roadster takes a sharp knife to the roof, though the differences between it and the also updated 2019 i8 Coupe are more than just the wind in your hair. Both have been in line for a number of improvements, including a welcome jolt of extra power.

The 2018 Jeep Wrangler is pitch-perfect: First Look

Jeep could've really screwed it up. The 2018 Wrangler could've been a pastiche of its iconic predecessors: all style for the mall parking lot, but none of the off-road ability some owners still demand. Happily, our first real-life glimpse of the 2018 Wrangler suggests Jeep has done just fine.
