Insta360 Nano S adds 360-degree video chat to any iPhone

Insta360 Nano S adds 360-degree video chat to any iPhone

Insta360 started off as a small company with an almost odd product: a 360-degree camera that you attach to the bottom of an iPhone, forcing you to use the iPhone upside down. In a little over a year’s time, the brand has exploded into the 360-degree camera scene, embraced Android phones, and even put out an even stranger Insta360 ONE “orbiting” camera. Today, it is going back to its roots with the Insta360 Nano S, successor to the Nano that kicked off the company’s business. And it is adding more than just a letter to its name, bringing a set of interesting features to an accessory you can easily stow in your pocket.

HP Z 3D Sprout camera add-on hands-on

HP Z 3D Sprout camera add-on hands-on

The HP Sprout desktop, announced way back in 2014, was already an odd idea. It basically mounted a 3D camera on top of an all-in-one PC that let you scan both 3D and 2D objects. Its near $2,000, at least back then, price tag didn’t help its cause either. Still believing that this is the future of computer input and interaction, HP has tried to make the technology more accessible, in both form and price. Enter the HP Z 3D camera, which is basically the Sprout camera, detached, and compatible with almost any Windows system, preferably HP’s, of course.

Milo smart speaker doubles as home hub, Google Assistant inside

CES is usually a time for big announcements but, this year, there is a somewhat silent undercurrent happening. An army is silently growing, made up of smart speakers that integrate this or that AI assistant. But, smart as they are, they are often just another device you have to add to your network. Startup Hogar Controls thinks it has the solution. Meet Milo, a smart speaker that almost looks like any other smart speaker, except for one invisible talent. It can also double as the central hub for your smart home instead of being just another node in the network.

Google Pay assimilates Android Pay, Google Wallet into a single platform

Google isn’t exactly known for always having a coherent product message and lineup. Just take a look at its current mess of messaging apps and services, not to mention those that it already retired. To a lesser extent, that is the same situation with its mobile payment systems, previously comprised of Android Pay, Google Wallet, and, if you’re in India, Tez. “Previously”, because Google is now combining two of those, namely Android Pay and Google Wallet, into a single “Google Pay” brand to reduce, or increase, confusion.

Google Assistant displays, Android Auto, speakers headline CES 2018

CES isn’t usually Google’s time to grab the spotlight but this year, it’s making its presence felt in a rather new way. No, there’s no new Google product or device being announced. Lenovo Miix 630 Windows 10 on ARM 2-in-1 debuts at CES 2018

Lenovo has revealed its first Windows-on-ARM ultraportable, the Lenovo Miix 630, running Windows 10 S on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835. One of a small handful of machines that eschew x86 processors from Intel or AMD in favor of the sort of low-power silicon that you'd more typically expect to find inside a smartphone, Lenovo's newest 2-in-1 uses that power frugality to good advantage.
