T-Mobile JUMP! On Demand Tweaked: Upgrade Your Device Every 30 Days
T-Mobile just made a big change to the device upgrade program it introduced in 2015. According to the carrier's JUMP! On Demand support page, which was edited on August 2, customers now have the option to upgrade to a different device every 30 days, this despite the 18-month agreement they enter into initially. The new upgrade option is only available for the hottest phones on the market, though, meaning you're stuck with your budget handset for a while.
The JUMP! On Demand program first launched with the option for subscribers to upgrade their phone with a different phone up to three times per year. There are some big limitations on the new option, the first being that it isn't available for anyone who has the No Credit Check version of the Simple Choice plans, nor those who have an open Extended Payment Schedule, foreign billing address, or Pay in Advance prepaid plan. The upgrade isn't available for accessory purchases, either.
How much you'll pay every month for your plan and the sum total of the entire leasing agreement will depend on your credit at the time that T-Mobile checks it, as well as which phone you choose, among other things like local tax rates. This is a leasing program, not a monthly payment option for purchasing a device through incremental payments; the carrier bluntly states that it owns any of these devices that users lease.
The company explains that 'most' of the hottest phones are currently available as part of the 30-day upgrade cycle, among them being the Galaxy S7 and the iPhone 7. There's no mention of the Galaxy S8, though the carrier doesn't list all of the supported phones, instead directing interested customers to contact its customer service or to go to one of its stores.
Finer details include that the JUMP! On Demand option doesn't include phone insurance, and though not all customers are required to have it, the company recommends that they do so. As well, if you like your phone, you are given the option to purchase it once your lease is up; this includes signing up for purchase installment plan, which will span nine months.
