Surena II humanoid robot unveiled in Iran

A team of 20 robotics experts worked in Iran at Tehran University to develop a humanoid robot called Surena II. The robot weighs in at 45 kilos and stands 4.76 feet tall. The robot walks upright on two legs just like a person, but at a slower pace according to Gulf News.

The exact purpose of the robot is unknown. In the future, the robotics experts say that they will add vision and sound capabilities to Surena II. Odds are the unveiling of the robot is simply to display the technical achievement of Iran.

Other than showing the robot off, Iranian State TV offered little information on what the robot could do. Japan has robots that can walk and perform other tasks like climb stair. One of the coolest of these Japanese robots is the Honda Asimo, though Asimo is prone to falling.
