Street Fighter V will shame rage quitters with public profile icon

Even almost a year after launch, Street Fighter V still has problems dealing with rage quitters, or those players who leave a match before its completion, either out of pure frustration or to avoid the penalties of losing. In the months since the game's release, developer Capcom implemented changes to make sure rage quitters were appropriately punished, but poor sportsmanship continues to be a downer for those who play online.

Fortunately Capcom has a new tactic to fight this behavior on the way, and it involves some old-fashioned public shaming. A new test branch of the Steam version of SF5 went live briefly, and fans were able to dig into the data before it was pulled. As was shared on NeoGAF, they found that players who repeatedly quit matches will get a special badge on their profiles.

"Special icons will be displayed on the Fighter Profiles of players who frequently disconnect, as well as those who never do, making it easier for players with the same icon to battle against each other," the patch notes said.

In addition to the shaming element, this tactic seems like a great way for SF5 players with similar reputations to find each other and square off. Other punishments for frequent quitters already in the game include temporary lockouts from multiplayer matchmaking and more severe reductions of League Points.
