SteelSeries Arctis 3 with wired, Bluetooth audio gets 2019 upgrades

SteelSeries has updated its Arctis 3 gaming headset, which includes wired and Bluetooth connectivity, to include new audio and comfort enhancements. The headset is particularly suitable for use with the Nintendo Switch, enabling owners to connect the headset to the console using the wired connection and to the Nintendo Switch Online app using the Bluetooth connection.

The Arctis 3 model was originally introduced in November 2017 as a gaming headset boasting simultaneous audio support, that enabling users to connect to both a wired and wireless audio source at the same time. That same functionality remains in the updated version of the Arctis 3 Bluetooth, but additional improvements have been made based on user feedback.

The memory foam ear cushions, for example, have been improved and there's a new simplified cable system. As well, SteelSeries says the headset now has an improved bass response, improving audio quality. This is joined by the noise-cancelling microphone, which reduces background noises for clearer audio.

The Arctis 3 Bluetooth remains notable for its ability to connect to an ordinary 3.5mm audio port and Bluetooth at the exact same time. This could be used to, for example, connect to a voice chatting app like Discord or the Nintendo Switch Online app, but also listen to game audio by plugging the headset directly into a console, like the Switch, or a game controller.

This updated version adds many of the features present in SteelSeries' 2019 Arctis editions, according to the company. Other features include ClearCast microphone quality, Airweave performance fabric ear cups, and a ski goggle suspension headband system. The headset supports Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC; price sits at $99.99 USD.
