Star Wars Storyboards teases early original trilogy art

On May 13, Star Wars Storyboards: The Original Trilogy will launch in bookstores, giving fans access to a collection of never-before-seen early artwork from the original trilogy. Ahead of this, the publisher has released a teaser video showing off some of the goods.

The storyboards (all 1200 of them) come from LucasFilm and cover the first three films, starting with A New Hope and spanning into The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Beyond that, artwork showing early concepts and deleted scenes will also be included.

The book contains storyboards from artist Joe Johnston, Alex Tavoularis, Ivor Beddos, Roy Carnon, and Ralph McQuarrie — some are rare, and others haven't been published at all before this point. The book — edited by J. W. Rinzler — is priced at $29.20 and is up for pre-order.

Of course, this publication comes at a time when the franchise enjoys a resurgence in popularity and preps its next movie. We've covered what is known about the next film extensively, which you can check out for yourself in the timeline below, and by hitting up our Star Wars tag portal.
