Star Citizen's new ship pack costs an absurd amount of money

By now, most people are no stranger to the fact that Star Citizen can be an expensive game, and this weekend, developer Cloud Imperium Games launched a new ship pack that proves it. The pack includes nearly every ship available in the game, but in order to obtain it, you're going to need to drop a ridiculous amount of cash. How much qualifies as "ridiculous" in this case? A cool $27,000.

For most players, The Legatus Pack is going to be out of the question immediately, as you can buy a good car for that kind of money. For that matter, there's a lot of awesome things you can buy in the real world for $27,000, so this is definitely a package for those who would consider that amount to be pocket change.

Here's the real kicker, though: you can't even view the listing for The Legatus Pack on Star Citizen's site unless you've already spent $1,000 or more on the game. That brings the total cost of the pack up to $28,000, and with that $1,000 requirement, it's likely that you've already got some of the items and ships included in The Legatus Pack. Thankfully, one helpful Star Citizen player has posted the contents of the pack to the game's official forums, and at the time of this writing, it seems that Cloud Imperium Games hasn't taken issue with that thread.

With everything counted up, The Legatus Pack comes with 117 ships and 163 extra items, though whether or not that bounty is worth $27,000 is something that each individual user needs to decide for themselves. Some users in that forum thread linked above claim that you can still view the page for The Legatus Pack even if you haven't spent $1,000 on the game, but you'll need to contact customer service and ask that they grant you access to it.

While most players are definitely going to pass on The Legatus Pack, there are definitely a few big spenders who are sure to pick it up. What do you think of The Legatus Pack? Head down to the comments section and share your thoughts.
