SRT debuts 2013 Viper GTS Launch Edition

We talked a few times about the 2013 SRT Viper that went official back in April. SRT has now debuted for the first time the 2013 Viper GTS Launch Edition. The car is inspired by the previous generation Viper Coupe reveals in 1996 and 2006. The 2013 model is clad in the classic GTS Blue with Bright White stripes.

The special edition 2013 Viper has a Stryker badge on the steering wheel and a special dash plaque with the build sequence number and the vehicle identification number. Production of the GTS Launch Edition will be limited to the first run 2013 SRT Viper GTS models produced at the Detroit Conner Avenue Assembly Plant.

The special-edition Viper will have the same all aluminum, mid-engine 8.4 L V-10 engine producing 640 HP and 600 pound-foot of torque. The special Stryker badges get a blue background on the Launch Edition models of the 2013 Viper, while all other Viper models for 2013 will have a gray background. The interior of the vehicle gets black Laguna leather seating with contrasting stitching that covers the seats, door trim, instrument panel, steering wheel, grab handle, shift knob, and the center console.

The headliner in the vehicle is alcantara. Production on the new SRT Viper and the SRT Viper GTS will start in Q4 2012. It's interesting to note that the 600 pound-foot of torque that the Viper V-10 engine produces is the highest number of any naturally aspirated sports car engine the world according to SRT. The Launch Edition cars will also get standard electronic multistage stability control, traction control, and four-channel antilock brakes.
