Spyro Reignited Trilogy has been delayed

It looks like you Spyro fans are going to have to wait a little longer to revisit the original trilogy. Originally scheduled to launch next month, developer Toys for Bob and publisher Activision have announced that the Spyro Reignited Trilogy has been delayed. The good news is that it'll still be out before the end of the year, so the delay isn't a terribly long one.

Toys for Bob co-studio head Paul Yan announced the delay in a post to to the company's website. "Everyone here at Toys for Bob is so proud to be reigniting the original Spyro trilogy after all these years," Yan wrote. "We're deeply committed to getting these games right, so we've decided to move the release date of Spyro Reignited Trilogy to November 13, 2018. I really hoped that you would be rescuing dragons and scorching Rhynocs sooner, but the Trilogy needs more love and care. In November when you're exploring the Dragon Realms, Avalar and the Forgotten Worlds, we know you'll agree the extra time was worth the wait."

Spyro Reignited Trilogy was originally supposed to launch on September 21, so this delay pushes it back almost two months on the nose. The compilation takes the original Spyro trilogy and essentially rebuilds the games from the ground up for modern consoles. This is more than just an HD remaster, as we're promised new assets and cinematics for all three games.

In the pre-release material that Toys for Bob and Activision have shared so far, the Reignited Trilogy looks pretty good. Of course, we'd expect as much after the amount of work that went into the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, which gave similar treatment to another classic PS1 series.

For now, the Spyro Reignited Trilogy has only been confirmed for PS4 and Xbox One. That might change in the future, as the N. Sane Trilogy eventually made its way to other platforms like Switch and PC. We'll see if more platforms are announced as time goes on, so stay tuned.
