Sony Vaio Y notebook available for pre-order

Sony is tossing lots of new gear onto the market at CES and one of the new notebooks that is debuting is called the Vaio Y. The Vaio Y is a 13.3-inch notebook that has a LED backlit screen to reduce power consumption. The notebook is 1.2-inches thick and has an Intel Core 2 Duo ULV processor and up to 8GB of RAM.

The machine uses a magnesium casing and promises seven hours of battery life per charge. Storage is up to 500GB and the machine sports an integrated Motion Eye camera and mic. Other features include Bluetooth with A2DP and 802.11 b/g/n WiFi.

Graphics are via Intel GMA HD and the native screen resolution is 1366 x 768. The notebook can output full 1080p via HDMI out. The machine can be pre-ordered now for $999 and it is set to ship around January 29.
