Sony shows off Bullet Run free to play PC shooter

Sony Online Entertainment is showing off a video game called Bullet Run that is a first-person shooter set in a reality show environment. The game lets players play more or less traditional online shooter combat under the guise of the player's online character being part of a reality TV show. The best part about this game is that it will be free to play on the PC and Sony is accepting beta registrations now.

Before you get too excited, you need to know while the game is free to download and play on the PC, additional content is available for purchase in the game market place. That would mean if you want a weapon to help you actually survive the game, you will need to pony up some cash. The game has different cameras, and reality show-like commentary will be made shooting action. Players can learn unique abilities that can be trained and used during combat including things like damage heal, beserker mode, enemy trapping robots, special ammo attacks, a mini gun, and more.

One of the more interesting things in the game is rather than just hitting a button and having your gun reload, Bullet Run has a circular icon that will appear on-screen. The player will actually need to hit the icon with the mouse pointer to reload the weapon. If the icon is hit just right the weapon will load fast, but if not the weapon can jam. The game will offer six different arenas and supports up to 20 online competitors per map. Sony says that there will be thousands of potential weapon combinations. This sounds like a very interesting idea and I like the idea that it's free to play. I hope the weapons and other items you can buy aren't overpriced or required to live very long in the game.
