Sony Ericsson patent application unveils sliding touchscreen phone

Personally, I don't like it, based on looks alone. Say what you want about not judging a book by its cover, but I don't like it. First of all it's a reverse slider, that was a bad idea from the beginning.

The screen should always be on top in my opinion, especially when it's a touch screen. Apparently they don't think so, sure doing it this way decreases the chances of the screen getting broken in the pocket of its owner, but it doesn't look near as good, or seem to offer as much instant functionality.

In a world where people are less and less concerned with making phone calls, and more so with the other stuff their mobile devices can do, I can't really see most people wanting access to the number pad before they want access to the touchscreen. I know I have said it before, that until something better is actually released, the iPhone has the bar set to beat, and its true, aspire to make a device like that one, but better, and you have a chance of selling a few units.
