Sony Cyber-shot HX99, HX95 super-zoom 4K cameras are ultra-slim

Sony has updated its high-zoom camera lineup with the new Cyber-shot HX99 and HX95 models. Both of these cameras feature a slim, highly portable form factor joined by high zoom magnification levels, optical image stabilization, 4K video recording support, and more. Chief among the models is the HX99, which adds features like Touch Shutter and Touch Focus.

Sony designed the HX99 and HX95 cameras for on-the-go photographers who need something more powerful than a smartphone camera, but without a large body that reduces portability. Both models sport the ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T* 24-720mm high-magnification zoom lens, which Sony boasts as being high-quality, as well as Optical SteadyShot.

Both models are likewise powered by the BIONZ X image processor and feature front-end LSI. With this hardware, both Cyber-shot offerings feature auto focus as fast as 0.09 seconds, as well as new raw recording, Eye AF, additional touch functions, and the ability to get location data over Bluetooth.

Given that these are ultra-zoom cameras, it's no surprise that Sony equipped both models with the Zoom Assist function, a feature that zooms the image out to temporarily show a wider area when extending the telephoto lens. Both cameras support 4K video recording with full pixel readout, as well as HD recording at up to 100fps.

The HX99 model itself also has an OLED Tru-Finder retractable display with support for Touch Pad focus-point shifting, Touch Shutter, and Touch Focus. The higher end model also features a Control Ring for customizing functions. The HX95 model features a degree of personalization via My Menu.

The Cyber-shot HX99 and HX95 will be available starting in October for European markets at 520 EUR and 500EUR, respectively.
