Sling TV adds new 'Extras' bundle, a cheaper way to get add-ons
Sling TV, the over-the-Internet live television service, has announced a new 'Extras' bundle that offers four channel packs at half the cost of subscribing to each one individually. The bundle includes the Lifestyle Plus Extra, the Kids Extra, Comedy Plus Extra, and News Extra. Sling TV is calling this is '4 Extras Deal,' and is offering it to both its Blue and its Orange subscribers.
For those unfamiliar, Sling TV has a particular arrangement in which one subscribes to one of two base packages: Sling Orange or Sling Blue. Each has its own cost and channel offerings, and can be paired together at a discount to get all the channels together. On top of that, though, subscribers can add extras that tack specific channel packs onto the already included offerings.
The channel packs enable subscribers to piecemeal their service by paying only for the channels they want and nothing more. For example, if you like sports you can subscribe to sports channels, and if you have kids, you can subscribe to kids channels. Each 'Extra' comes with a small additional monthly fee.
Typically someone will want to subscribe to more than a single 'Extra' pack of channels, which means the cost of their monthly service could go up $20 or more, depending on the channels and the number of them. To help discount that, Sling TV has launched this bundle.
The bundle brings channels covering topics typically enjoyed by customers — kids programming, news, lifestyle and comedy — and offers them at a flat rate of $10 extra per month, whereas they would usually cost $20/month extra if added individually.
