SlashGear Review - RoboForm2Go
I've been using the RoboForm2Go for a couple of weeks now, and it's a really useful tool. If you're not familiar with the product, it is a 256MB USB drive that contains some very useful software that keeps track of your important usernames, passwords and other information.
Sure, your browser keeps track of most of that information for you, but what about when you go to a different computer? Then you've got to remember all of that information. I'm a person that has so many usernames and passwords that it's rather difficult to keep track of, so it's a great little product.
Installation of this is a breeze, you just plug in the drive and you're prompted with the option to install the software. The program is contained on the USB drive, so nothing is going to get stored on your computer. Then you'll have to go through the long and tedious process of entering all of your usernames and passwords. Actually, it's really simple to add them, just browse to the sites that you use frequently and log in, you'll be presented with a box from RoboForm2Go that asks if you want to save the information. Just give it a name (or use the suggested one) and you're all set.
Now when it comes time to use a different computer, you just plug it in, you'll be presented with a prompt to launch it, and you're all set! Just browse to whatever sites you want, and you'll be greeted with the login information that you need. There is one password that you will want to remember, and that's the master password for the program. This is in place to make sure that if someone gets ahold of your flash drive, they won't be granted access to all of your information.
The only negative that I'll note is that it did crash Firefox on a couple of occasions, but it was quite rare. I personally prefer the Google Sync plugin for Firefox to handle all of my information, as it doesn't require me to plug in a piece of hardware ever time I switch computers. However, I would love to keep one of these on hand for times when I work on someone else's computer (which happens more often than I'd like).
In the end, I would highly recommend this to anyone that works on multiple computers on which they cannot install additional software, as well as for those that do any sort of PC repair work, as you will often find yourself out in the field working off of someone else's computer, and need access to various secure websites. You can order one of these direct from Siber Systems for $39.99. I give the RoboForm2Go 4 out of 5 gears.
