Side-On Cutlery By Jens-Martin/Mater

Jens-Martin is the designer of this ingenious product, and Mater is the Copenhagen based brand the product was designed for. You might recognize the name Jens-Martin, he also designed Puma's Urban Mobility bike and Biomega.

His latest design is a set of eating utensils that have stands built into them to keep their eating surfaces off of the table. The knife and table spoon sit vertically and have flat edges and stands to keep them off the table in such a position.

The fork on the other hand sits the traditional horizontal direction and also has a stand to keep it off of the table. The set is being made of polished stainless steel, and is being produced by a family-owned factory in Guangdong Province in South China. Mater as a company prides themselves on manufacturer selection, only choosing the best both environmentally and the most socially responsible choices.
