Sharp announces 3D Aquos SH8298U Android phone with dual 8MP cameras

Sharp has announced today a new 3D-capable Android smartphone, called the Aquos SH8298U. It features a display that supports glasses-free 3D and has dual cameras on the back of 8-megapixels each for you to capture both 3D stills and videos. It also comes in some fun colors, in either white or red.

The Aquos SH8298U features a 4.2-inch qHD display, a 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255 single-core processor, 512MB of RAM, 2GB onboard storage, and a 1240mAh battery. The specs are less stellar than those of the dual-core LG Optimus 3D and HTC EVO 3D, but the Aquos does offer 8-megapixel cameras while the other two offer only 5-megapixel cameras.

The device will come running Android 2.3 Gingerbread and will be launching on SoftBank in Japan. However, an exact date of availability hasn't been revealed yet and neither has pricing. Availability for other markets such as the US are also unlikely.
