Samsung Smart Home Service offers control of multiple devices from a single app

Home automation is a booming industry and one major issue holding back some users from automating their home is the complication of the tech. Samsung has announced that it will be rolling out a new Samsung Smart Home service that aims to simplify the control of a smart home by allowing a single app on a mobile device to control home appliances, TVs, and mobile devices.

Using the app, multiple devices can be controlled at the same time with the ability to do things like set smart bulbs, TVs, and other devices to all turn off at once when the Good Night button is pressed. The system would also allow full control over certain home appliances, such as the washer and dryer allowing the user to choose the wash settings they need.

The app will transmit only encrypted data making it more secure and keeping data private. Samsung's control app is available via Samsung Apps and Google Play. Samsung plans to offer an app for the Samsung Gear 2 smartwatch running Tizen.

An app for the Samsung 2014 Smart TV line will ship in April. The app will expand to control more devices in the home, such as robotic vacuum cleaners and more in the future. Control capability will also come to the Gear Fit eventually. Pricing and availability will vary in each market and no details pricing or available are offered now.
