Samsung is bringing out their OLED TV's to play at CES

In fact, it won't be just any old OLED TV, it will be the worlds largest at 40-inches. Personally, I would have thought the World's Largest TV and 40-inches wouldn't have ever been in the same sentence, but alas, it is, and that still makes this TV larger than Sony's XEL-1 OLED TV.

It will begin shipping within the US in a few months, which is cool. Hopefully OLEDs replace those wretched LCD and Plasma screens, I haven't seen an OLED larger than a couple inches, but they always look simply amazing, and I want one now. What's so great about OLED you might ask, well I'll tell you.

First, no backlight necessary, that makes them more efficient, next up is the fact that due to the lack of a backlight, you'll finally be able to see true blacks. And, the panels can be thinner than LCD or Plasma panels for the same reason as well. The downsides are that making them large enough to appeal to the public, while keeping the price low enough to appeal to the masses is hard. No word on price, but like I said, you should see them for sale in a few months.
