Samsung I7110 Not For The UK, Despite London Launch

In a surprising move, Samsung has decided not to sell their I7110 S60 handset in the UK, despite having unveiled it at the London Smartphone Show.  The I7110, which has 3G, a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and an LED flash, WiFi and GPS, will presumably only be offered in Russia, the US and possibly some European markets.

"There are currently no plans to release the I7110 in the UK so we will not be distributing any" Samsung spokesperson

Hands-on feedback from the show suggested that the I7110 would be a strong rival to Nokia's S60-powered range, with its multimedia and entertainment features emphasized thanks to the large, 2.6-inch AMOLED display.  Given Nokia's market share in the UK (and in Europe) it seems strange that Samsung have no current plans to tackle them there.

The I7110 goes on sale in Russia in November 2008, pricing currently unknown.  There's been no other word from Samsung as to which other markets will be served.
