Samsung has trotted out a new member of its Chromebook family with the Chromebook 3 being unveiled in Las Vegas at CES 2016 today. The Chromebook 3 promises to be simple, fast, compact, and light. It aims at business and schools that need a portable experience that is cheaper to own than ultraportable Windows machines.

Samsung's Chromebook 3 was designed from the ground up for mobile use and weighs a bit over 2.5 pounds. The design provides improved grip to make it easier to carry and it has a reinforced metal body to help protect against drops and spills.

The keyboard has UL certified curved keycaps and the display has a 180-degree hinge. The machine measures in at 11.36 x 8.04 x 0.70-inches and has an 11.6-inch screen with 1366 x 768 resolution. The processor is an Intel Celeron N3050 with Intel HD Graphics.

Internal storage is to 16GB of eMMC with 2GB or 4GB RAM options available. WiFi and Bluetooth are integrated along with dual speakers and a 720p webcam. Samsung fits the machine with one USB 3.0 port, one USB 2.0 port, HDMI output, and microSD card slot. Power comes from a 33Wh battery promising up to 11 hours of use per charge. The machine will launch in early 2016 at an undisclosed price.
