Russian 'Guardians' superhero movie gets an English trailer

In case you missed the news, Russia has its own city-destroying superhero movie in the works, and it involves a guardian man-bear with a gatling gun. A previous trailer the movie has been around for months, but it was released in Russian (as we'd expect it to be). Thankfully for those of us on this side of the pond, the trailer — as well as a new second trailer — has been dubbed in English and released as one extra-long teaser. In it we discover a storyline as old as humans, and one not unlike past Hollywood blockbusters.

The movie is simply called "Guardians," and the first trailer for it was released back in April. At the time, we got a look at what appeared to be a man that was also part bear. The new trailer suggests he's not always like that, instead undergoing some kind of transformation caused by putting on his own superhero costume. It's not clear how that works, though.

The movie is apparently set during the Cold War and features a team of ordinary people "in a country that had never known superheroes." These superheroes, it seems, were made, not born. They mobilized during the Cold War to protect the land from supernatural enemies of some kind, then apparently went dormant...only now those enemies are back, and so the Guardians must rise again to stop them.

There are four guardians total, at last per the trailers, including the man-bear, some guy that can control rocks, and a woman who turns invisible. The movie is directed by Sarik Andreasyan and will be hitting (Russian) theaters in Winter 2017.
