ROCCAT Khan Pro gaming headset announced with Hi-Res certification

ROCCAT today announced a new gaming headset called the Khan Pro, and it seems to be aimed at gamers who want every edge they can get in competitive games. The Khan Pro is a stereo headset that comes with a built-in microphone and delivers what ROCCAT claims to be "unheard of sound clarity." Just be warned that it might cost a bit more than what you're used to spending on your gaming headsets.

In ROCCAT's announcement, the company says that this is the first headset in the world that has been granted "Hi-Res-Audio" certification. What does that mean to you? With its frequency range of 20Hz to 40kHz, ROCCAT says you'll be able to hear your enemies coming and determine their location before they even know you're there.

If, then, you play a lot of games like PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, this might be a headset to consider. After all, much of PUBG centers around getting the jump on your opponents by listening to their footsteps as you lie in wait. If ROCCAT claims that the Khan Pro does that better than competing headsets, it could certainly be worth a look.

One shortcoming of many gaming headsets is usually the microphone. While the headsets themselves may offer good (if not great) sound quality, the microphones they're outfitted with typically leave something to be desired. ROCCAT says that the Khan Pro can pick up low frequencies, thereby making "the human voice sound as natural as possible on a gaming headset."

Add to that a low overall weight and memory foam earpads, and you should be good to game with the Khan Pro for extended sessions. So, how much will the Khan Pro set you back? ROCCAT has given them a price of $99.99 – a fair bit more than some other gaming headsets, but still less than buying headphones and a standalone microphone separately. If this sounds like the headset for you, you'll be able to pick it up from various retail channels in early October.
