Renault Kadjar crossover SUV unveiled ahead of Geneva

One of the car brands that we don't get here in the US is Renault. Renault makes some interesting cars in Europe and other parts of the world and it has unveiled a new SUV ahead of the Geneva motor show. The crossover SUV is called the Kadjar and it is the first C-segment crossover from the automaker. It will compete in a highly competitive class along with the Mazda CX-5, Kia Sportage, VW Tiguan, Toyota RAV4, and Nissan Qashqai.

The Kadjar shares the Common Module Family platform with the Nissan Rogue and X-Trail as part of the Renault-Nissan alliance. Renault is keeping some of the specifications of the SUV secret for now, but they will all be unveiled in Geneva. What we do know is that it will come in two or four wheel drive versions. It will feature LED headlights and will have Renault R-Link 2 infotainment system.

The vehicle has 7.5-inches of ground clearance and lower body cladding along with underbody protection for off-roading. Manufacturing of the Kadjar for European markets will take place at the Renault factory in Palencia, Spain.

It's unclear what the powertrain will consist of. I'd wager it will use a 4-cylinder on most models with diesel power a likely option. The Geneva motor show kicks off in March and all the details will be offered then.
