Razer Atheris mouse promises lag-free wireless gaming

Generally speaking, PC gamers want a wired mouse to cut back on latency as much as possible. The only problem with that is gaming on the road – if you're playing on a gaming laptop, you may not want to carry a wired mouse as a wireless mouse is more convenient. Razer claims to have the solution to that problem in its new wireless notebook mouse, the Atheris.

In announcing the device today, Razer says that the Atheris will offer "the world's longest-lasting battery life and lag-free wireless gaming-grade performance." With two AA batteries, the Atheris should see you through 350 hours, which is a pretty impressive claim all its own.

More interesting, perhaps, is Razer's claim of lag-free performance. The Atheris uses Razer's own Adaptive Frequency Technology, with a connection based on a USB dongle that can be stored in the mouse itself for easy transport. Through AFT, Razer says that the Atheris is able to achieve "the most reliable, stable connection." If you want to use the Atheris with a device that doesn't have a USB port, Razer has you covered there too with built-in Bluetooth Low Energy.

Beyond the claims of lag-free gaming and long-lasting battery life, the Razer Atheris is outfitted with a 7200 DPI optical sensor, ensuring that your cursor will zoom across your display faster than some people can keep up. You'll also have five independently programmable buttons at your disposal, and this ambidextrous mouse is friend to both righties and lefties alike.

The Razer Atheris is shipping now in the US, with Razer saying that it will launch worldwide sometime in Q4 2017. You can pick up an Atheris of your own by heading to Razer's website. The cost isn't too bad as far as wireless mice go, as the Atheris will only set you back $49.99.
