R2-D2 rain barrel is geekalicious

I think of all the characters in science fiction; R2-D2 is one of the most loved. The little droid doesn't even speak; he simply beeps. However, R2 is still one of my favorite Star Wars characters. We've seen R2-D2 turned into all sorts of toys and other projects from robots to computer cases. This is the first time I've ever seen R2-D2 turned into a barrel for collecting rainwater.

I guess this could happen to high-strung astromech droid if it can't be repaired, and the Jawas were caught in a torrential downpour. The cool R2-D2 themed rain barrel was created for a contest in Knoxville Tennessee called the Water Quality Forum. The contest is an annual thing that centers on a creation contest and auction of the barrels.

The person that made this barrel is Curtis Glover, and he pulled off a very nice R2-D2 design. It appears to have been painted with airbrushes, stencils, and lots of blue, black, and gray paint. I wonder how much the barrel will sell for.
