Quake Champions follows Fortnite's lead with new Battle Pass option

Bethesda has announced a couple changes for its arena shooter Quake Champions, the most notable being a new Battle Pass. The game's Champion Progressive system has been improved, giving players rewards when they reach certain milestones. Players who want to maximize their rewards can also pay 1,000 Platinum to get Quake Champions' new Battle Pass, which gives bonus rewards and more.Quake Champions is a free shooter game; free players get access to daily and weekly challenges starting December 20, which will offer rewards that include weapon skins, shards, Platinum, profile icons and nameplates, XP boosts, and more. Players can also spend 1,000 Platinum to get everything free players get, plus more.

The additional Battle Pass content includes bonus weekly challenges, additional rewards after completing challenges, and what Bethesda simply describes as "unique items" like the Sar Sarru Desert Weapon Shader, Color Guard Vanity Cape, and more. The existing currency systems and loot box will get an "overhaul," according to Bethesda.

The new Champion Progression system "gives players more control over what they earn," according to the company. This system rewards players with Shards as they finish select challenges, which can be spent on Champion cosmetics. This eliminates "redundancies" and "relying on luck," Bethesda explains.

Players can view a Champion's progress bar to see how close they are to unlocking new items and what they're going to receive next. Lore Scrolls, armor sets, shaders, accessories, and more can all be earned during gameplay. The new progression system and Battle Pass option will arrive December 20.
