PUBG's Sanhok map finally launches this week

After months of waiting and a lot of testing, PUBG's new Sanhok map is nearly ready for prime time. PUBG Corp has announced that the new map will launch in the live version of the game later this week, which means no more downloading test servers if you want a chance to play it. The map has proven very popular with players throughout its testing phases, so expect it to get a lot of playtime once it's finally in the game.

PUBG Corp has announced that Sanhok will be going live as part of PUBG 1.0 update #15 on June 22. Sanhok has taken off with PUBG players thanks in large part to its small size – at 4km x 4km, it's about one-forth the size of Erangel and Miramar. Despite the smaller size, it still hosts 100 players at a time, resulting in frequent and high-intensity skirmishes.

A number of changes have been made to the standard PUBG formula to accommodate Sanhok's smaller size. For instance, the blue zone on Sanhok is dynamic and checks remaining player numbers before determining where the next circle will be. Weapons like ARs, SMGs, and DMRs will spawn more frequently as well, allowing players to get equipped and ready for battle faster.

A new map isn't the only thing coming along with update #15 either. We'll see the addition of a new assault rifle called the QBZ (seen above), which is exclusive to Sanhok. In fact, the QBZ spawns in place of the SCAR-L on the new map, so keep an eye out for it.

The map editor has been changed to include two new playlists titled "Battle Royale" and "Mini Royale," with the former placing you randomly on Erangel or Miramar and the latter only containing Sanhok for now. Players will also see advertisements for the PUBG Global Invitational in Berlin popping up in the in-game world. There are tons of other changes, including a number of UI tweaks and bug fixes, so be sure to check out PUBG Corp's full patch notes over on Steam.
