Amazon drops a couple of surprises for Blu-Ray fans. The Pioneer DMP-BD35 and DMP-BD55 revealed at CEDIA less than a month ago; both have shown up at Amazon for preorder, and the prices are $100 cheaper than previously announced.

Both units feature updated version of the UniPhier video processor with thinner profile, Blu-ray live (profile 2.0) and internal HD decoder including DTS-MA via bitstream and PCM over HDMI. Compare to last models, it now supports better chroma processing to convert Blu-ray's 4:2:0 color encoding to 4:4:4 when uses with compatible displays.

The higher-end model BD55 is $100 more with the additional of Divx support, multichannel analogue outputs and HD codes decoder for analogue segment. It also features high end audio design and components such as high quality insulators, electrolytic capacitors, copper-foil film capacitors and ultra-low-impedance electrolytic capacitors than the little brother. Both units, the 35 and 55 have received favorable reviews from Whathifi at UK.
