Porsche unveils the Taycan 4S entry-level EV sports car
Porsche has announced the addition of a new model into the Taycan line that will slot in beneath the existing Taycan Turbo S and the Taycan Turbo. The new car is the Taycan 4S, and it is the entry-level car for the Taycan line. Taycan 4S buyers can choose between two battery sizes and corresponding power outputs.
The base Performance battery is a single-deck battery with 79.2 kWh with the car offering 390 kW of power. The second battery option is the Performance battery Plus 93.4 kWh unit with the car making 420 kW. Porsche says that no matter the battery chosen, the Taycan 4S will accelerate to 100 km/h in 4.0 seconds, and both have a top speed of 250 km/h.
The driving range is up to 463 km (287 miles) with the Performance battery Plus and up to 407 km (252 miles) with the base battery. Taycan 4S uses a pair of permanently excited synchronous motors on each axle, providing all-wheel drive.
The car has a two-speed transmission giving it the same main technical highlights as the other Taycan models. It rolls on 19-inch Taycan S Aero wheels and has red brake calipers. It has a front apron with new geometry, side sills, and rear diffuser in black. Standard headlights are LED with PDSL Plus as standard.
Taycan 4s comes standard with partial leather interior and front comfort seats that are 8-way electrically adjustable. Other features include Porsche 4D Chassis control and adaptive air suspension with PASM. The Taycan 4S can be ordered now in Europe and will hit dealers in January 2020. There is no indication of a time frame for availability in the States.
