Polk Audio Command Bar is a home sound bar with Alexa built-in

Polk Audio will soon start taking preorders for Command Bar, its home theater sound bar with Alexa built-in. The sound bar is slim and relatively minimalist in design, offering HDMI 2.0b for use with most HDTVs and 4K TVs. Among other things, the sound bar features far-field microphones for listening to the user's voice. According to Polk, its Command Bar was the first sound bar with Alexa support to be announced.

The Polk Audio Command Bar is a large sound bar that can be placed beneath a TV to provide a robust audio experience in the absence of a surround sound system. Like most sound bars, the Command Bar has Alexa baked in, enabling it to function like a giant smart speaker. Voice commands can be used to control the content, including adjusting volume.

Polk says it used Voice Adjust tech with its new product to provide clear dialogue; there's also a wireless subwoofer for bass, plus 4K-compliant HDMI connectivity. The company says its sound bar is completely compatible with Fire TV products, though they're not included, of course.

The speaker weighs just under 22lbs and measures 46.5-inches long. In addition to the voice commands, users can control Command Bar using an IR remote, which itself has an Alexa Action Button built-in. The internal amp utilizes 260 watts of power; there's an acoustically-tuned vent for the front array driver. Frequency response is expansive at 40Hz to 22,000Hz.

The model has physical controls in the form of a front and top panel. Users get direct access to volume control, microphone mute, and Alexa Action buttons. In addition to the HDMI ports, Command Bar supports Bluetooth and wireless 802.11a/b/g/n/ac dual-band connections. Polk Audio will offer Command Bar for pre-order starting on April 1 at $229.95 USD.
