Polaris Slingshot Grand Touring Gets Gullwing Half Doors
The Polaris Sling Shot is a very cool three-wheel vehicle that has been in production for several years. Polaris has unveiled a new version of that ride called the Slingshot Grand Touring for 2019. The Grand Touring version of the car is at its core the same SL version already out there.
It weighs 1,749 pounds and has a 2.4L inline 4-cylinder GM Ecotec engine and 5-speed manual transmission. The GM four makes 173hp and 166 lb-ft of torque. That should mean decent performance with its light curb weight.
Polaris claims a top speed of 130mph. The difference in the Grand Touring version and the SL really comes down to trim. It gets something called the Slingshade, which is the roof made of gullwing doors that open for easier entry and exit. It also packs fancy quilted seats and a taller 9.5-inch clear wind deflector.
Inside the Grand Touring are a 7-inch Ride Command Display multitouch interface that offers navigation, Bluetooth/USB connectivity, a 100W Rockford Fosgate audio system and a backup camera. Polaris also fits the Grand Touring with a color-matched rear fender.
The only color for this model is black crystal with white pearl metallic paint. The Slingshot Grand tourer isn't cheap coming in at $29,499. The video above shows the Grand Tourer along with other Slingshot models for 2019 in action.
