Pokemon GO Event Starts NOW: Legendary Trio In Effect

Today we're having a peek at what may be the biggest event in the history of the game Pokemon GO. In this week, called Legendary Week, users will have access to three of the most powerful Pokemon in the game: Kyogre, Groudon, and Rayquaza. These Pokemon will all be available to roll in Raid Battles for a limited amount of time, starting immediately if not soon!

Niantic aims to make users battle one of these Pokemon more than the other, based on the types of Pokemon they'd like to catch. That's a confusing sentence for the uninitiated. Each of these Pokemon will add to a points pile each time they're defeated. The points pile with the most points will direct the sort of Pokemon that'll then hatch from eggs for another limited set of time soon thereafter.

"If Rayquaza is defeated more than Kyogre and Groudon combined, Pokémon that typically prefer windy weather (for example, Bagon) are more likely to hatch from Eggs from March 5 to March 16," said a Niantic representative. "If not, Pokémon that prefer sunny or rainy weather (like Trapinch or Lotad) are more likely to hatch."

If none of those names of Pokemon are familiar to you, you may well have quit the game a few months ago. In that time, one whole heck of a lot of new Pokemon were introduced! In order to get your rear end back into the game, Niantic's pulling out all the stops. But not without cashing in.

A set of new "special boxes" will be available starting on February 24th, 2018, that'll have the Raid Passes users will need to fight these Legendary Pokemon popping up in Gyms across the map. You can attain these Raid Passes elsewhere – but not quite as easily as simply trading in cash.

This event begins today, February 23rd, 2018, and it'll last approximately a week. While Niantic suggests the game will be done on March 3rd, we know good and well they've been apt to allow bonuses and features run beyond event ends by hours or even days. So keep your Magikarp hats on tight and keep on battling.
