Pokemon GO code peek: All the new Gen 3 Pokemon spawning this week

This week Niantic made some big changes to Pokemon GO for the newest Pokemon generations released to the game. Before this week, almost all Pokemon from Generation 1 and 2 have been able to appear in the wild as a wild spawn. Starting this week, Generation 3 and forward will begin to spawn not only their most basic Pokemon, but some evolved types, too! New Pokemon in the wild as of this week include such massive monsters as Slaking, Shiftry, Flygon, and Aggron!

It was only a matter of time, but that time is now for 3rd-gen and forward. Newly-released (new as wild spawns, that is) Pokemon in the wild this week include a wild assortment of monsters. The first three should be obvious, but Exploud? What in the world is going on here? Could we get any stranger than Ludicolo?

Confirmed New Pokemon GO Gen 3 wild spawns this week:

• Sceptile

• Blaziken

• Swampert*

• Aggron

• Salamence

• Slaking

• Ludicolo

• Exploud

• Shiftry

• Manectric

• Flygon

*Swampert also appears in the code of the game with a "Purified" form bonus Stardust Capture Reward. The same is true of the Normal and the Shadow versions of this Pokemon. This generally means that this Pokemon could, however unlikely, be found in the wild. Wouldn't that be weird?

Other Gen 3 Pokemon that'll likely spawn now – though they remain (as of now) unconfirmed as such – are also found in the game's latest updated code. We dove into the latest update for the game files and clocked the pattern of point rewards that'd normally suggest current or soon-to-launch wild spawns for Pokemon. The following list of Pokemon has the user-side code required to spawn, but might not be activated by Niantic.

*Gardevoir, Torterra, and Gallade also have the same potential for spawning in the wild as normal, Purified, and Shadow as Swampert. This likely only means that they'll all be Team GO Rocket viable through the future – but we shall see!

Take a peek at the timeline below for other big reveals this week. There's also an $8 USD ticket you'll want to read about – this is the first time Niantic's really pushing a cash-only ticket system for an in-game-only event where you'll get the chance to catch a Pokemon that'll otherwise be released next month.
